After a brief hiatus during and immediately following the COVID-19 pandemic, Greene County Medical Center leaders announce the return of the Patient & Family Advisory Council.
The Patient & Family Advisory Council is comprised of a combination of community members in the medical center’s service area and Greene County Medical Center team members from a cross section of departments.
“In the past, the council has been instrumental in providing input and feedback from the patient, family and community member perspective as well as from those working in the healthcare industry,” explained chief nursing officer Amanda Lass. “We have a very diverse group of members on board for the relaunch of the program and are looking forward to working with them on ways we can enhance patient-centered care as well as the patient and family experience at Greene County Medical Center.”
The council structure will consist of five to nine community members and six to eight Greene County Medical Center team members. Each council member will serve for either a one- or two-year term. Organizers anticipate the group will initially meet on a monthly basis and then move to quarterly meetings.
“The goal of the Patient & Family Advisory Council is to build mutual respect and trust through the relationships built between the medical center and our patients, families and community members,” Lass said. “This opens communication options for our area residents and gives them an opportunity to actively participate in rural healthcare.”
